The Design

Your architectural design firm has been requested to submit a bid for a new library to be built in Springville.

Your design firm may be made up or 2-4 members. Seniors must work with seniors since your final presentations will be a week before the others.

Springville is a on old mining town that wishes to update it's image but still maintain a sense of its history. Springville has a population of 25000 people and wants a full service facility including all the usual things provided by libraries (books, magazines, reference area, children's space and:

• Meeting rooms
• Performance space
• Computer access areas
• Outside garden/reflection area with benches
• Circulation Desk
• Staff Office/Break space
• Bathrooms

The building will be place on a square corner lot 125 ft x 175 ft to work with, inclusive of sidewalk. Six foot setback from sidewalks and property line is required by town code.

The building must be hadndicapped accessible.

• Floor Plans
• Detailed door and window schedules
• All pertinent Elevation views
• Electrical detail

Physical scale model with landscaping

1-2 minute fly through with narration

The Presentation

Each group is require to give a 5 minute presentation (including showing of the fly through) on their design. It should discuss the features and demonstrate thoughtfulness on how you can meet the city's literacy needs.
